Night Swim — Night Swim is a story about a nightmare, told in the format of a children’s book. A while back, I wrote a story about my periodic violent nightmares, which evolved into this treatment. That feeling of suffocation—of screaming in your dreams without relief—is a natural analog for the sense of drowning, which provides the metaphorical backdrop for this setting. The children’s book format is more of an anchor, as the story should not be told to kids as they drift off into the night.
